LRA Announces the 2009
La Pine Rodeo Queen!
Congratulations to Jenna Jacobsen!!! On November 8, 2008 we held the 2009 La Pine Rodeo Queen tryouts at Ghost Rock Ranch in La Pine. There were five applicants, two local and three out-of-area girls. All I have to say is TOUGH COMPETITION. All of these young ladies did their absolute best and all worked hard to be crowned and called the 2009 La Pine Rodeo Queen.
Jenna Jacobsen is from Sisters, Oregon. She attends Sisters High School as a sophomore. She is very active with her horse in OHSET, drill team, CTPA, CCC, RRR and when she is not on her horse, Jenna is on the high school tennis team and is a student ambassador.
On the applicant’s registration I asked the girls, “Who do you look up to? And why?” Jenna said both her mom and dad. She comes from a very supportive family and they are ready to do whatever LRA asks of them. Jenna is a past Rodeo Princess so she knows the “ropes.” I am very excited and honored to have known Jenna for the past seven years from other local horse groups, and I myself watching Jenna, her horse and her family, know that they will not let La Pine Rodeo Association down.
Thanks to Ghost Rock Ranch for hosting this years try outs!
The La Pine Rodeo Queen Sponsors are Country Feed & Pet Supply and Purina!
Click here for a special message from Kristen Russell, La PIne 2008 Rodeo Queen! Thanks for being an excellent queen and setting the standard for future La Pine Rodeo queens to come! Congratulations on becoming the 2009 Deschutes County Rodeo Queen!
See the 2008 La Pine Rodeo RESULTS!
The La Pine Rodeo Board, Members and Volunteers have been working countless hours
since last year’s hugely successful rodeo to once again bring La Pine and the
surrounding communities our Seventh Annual Sanctioned Rodeo. La Pine Rodeo Association is sanctioned by the
NPRA, PRO-WEST and ICA ASSOCIATIONS.
This years rodeo will be held on Saturday, July 4th, and Sunday, July 5th, 2009. The time for both
days is 1:00pm for the rodeo and 12:30pm both days for the Mutton Busting’ (a huge
crowd favorite).
Our 2008 Rodeo brought almost 400 contestants to La Pine and we are expecting even more to enter this year’s
events.
The rodeo will be joined by several other events, the High Lakes Car Show, the Quilt
Show and Frontier Days at the Midway, all taking place in La Pine on the same weekend.
This will mean more visitors to our area and the time to think about getting your tickets for
the day of your choice is soon. The ticket prices are $10.00 General Admission, $8.00 for
seniors and children 6-12. Children 5 years and under are free. Tickets will be available May 18, 2009.
We’re very proud to again have Hall of Fame Announcer Kedo Olsen (a GREAT crowed
pleaser), the La Pine Rodeo Riders Drill Team and cowboys and cowgirls from all the
Western States, Canada and other areas of the nation. Lazy HK Bar Rodeo Company
are our rodeo contractors.
An Important Notice: Parking at the La Pine Rodeo Arena grounds on July 4th is RESERVED FOR RODEO CONTESTANTS ONLY. No public parking will be available on the grounds this year for fireworks viewing.

Our Trusty Tractor Has Been Painted!
A big THANK YOU goes out to the guys at Hooker Creek for the patriotic paint job they did on the rodeo tractor! Logan Oestman, Mike Harris and Shaun Glabb went above and beyond on this tractor. Thanks to La Pine Rodeo Association Board Members Tony DeBone for the idea and a huge thanks to Rod Wells for coordinating the project. be sure to check it out at this years Frontier Days Parade!
History of The La Pine Rodeo Association
The La Pine Rodeo has been in existence for over 30 years as a Jackpot Rodeo normally happening over the 4th of July. However, in 2001 a group of volunteers began planning a bigger event by getting professional sanctioning bodies to accept La Pine in their calendar for the year. For the last 5 years La Pine has had professional sanctioned rodeos. Each year the rodeo has grown in attendance, prize money, the number of contestants and popularity in Oregon. We are proud to say that La Pine has truly become, "The Greatest Little Rodeo in Oregon"!
