2017 La Pine Rodeo Association Court
La Pine Rodeo Association Welcomes 2017 Queen Ciara Perkins & Princess Mollie Phillips
2017 Queen Ciara Perkins
I am a sophomore at La Pine High School. I have had a love of horses since I could walk. Anytime my family and I would vacation close to horse stables, I would ask to go horseback riding.
It wasn’t until 2 1/2 years ago when I started taking lessons that this love bloomed into a passion. I first started showing with the Saddlebred Industry around Oregon and Washington. It was during these competitions when my trainer noticed there was something about me as I was winning many of my competitions or placing as Reserve Champion. This passion has continued and progressed into riding with the La Pine OHSET team and the local Boots and Buckles 4H Club.
With my constant companion, Lena, we qualified for State with OHSET. Lena, who is a 19 year old Palomino, joined my family last spring and has really brought out a new sense of confidence in me and my abilities. I will also be going to the 4H Spring Horse Classic Competition in April after qualifying in Horse Judging. I manage all these activities, as well as caring for my horses, while remaining on the Honor Roll at La Pine High School. I am looking forward to an amazing Rodeo season traveling around to various rodeos representing the wonderful La Pine Community.
2017 Princess Mollie Phillips
My name is Mollie Renée Phillips, I am 19 years old. I was born and raised in a little town southeast of La Pine called Christmas Valley.
I graduated from North Lake last year. I am currently a college student at COCC, where I am majoring in the Veterinary Technology program. I have been riding horses since I was 4 years old. I competed in many horse shows through the years. I was also in a local 4-H. In my Junior year I had shown a lamb, which I won Reserve Champion with and was able to participate in the Round Robin.
Beau my horse is the first horse I have ever owned. He is a Paint/Thoroughbred, he stands 16 hands high. I also have a purebred black Lab named Guinness, he is 2 1/2 years old. Guinness, Beau and I go for long runs down the back roads at the ranch I work on, Kalamataca Ranch, which is located behind Black Butte Ranch. My boss owns many horses. She recently got two mustangs that I have been working with. I am also an intern with Mustangs to the Rescue.
