"The Greatest Little Rodeo In Oregon"
Brought to you by the Members and Volunteers
of the La Pine Rodeo Association
“Cowboy Up”
The La Pine Rodeo Board, Members and Volunteers have been working countless hours
since last year’s hugely successful rodeo to once again bring La Pine and the
surrounding communities our Sixth Annual Sanctioned Rodeo. La Pine Rodeo Association is sanctioned by the
NPRA, PRO-WEST and ICA ASSOCIATIONS.
This years rodeo will be held on Saturday, July 5th, and Sunday, July 6th, 2008. The time for both
days is 1:00pm for the rodeo and 12:30pm both days for the Mutton Busting’ (a huge
crowd favorite).
Our 2007 Rodeo brought almost 400 contestants to La Pine and we are expecting even more to enter this year’s
events.
The rodeo will be joined by several other events, the High Lakes Car Show, the Quilt
Show and Frontier Days at the Midway, all taking place in La Pine on the same weekend.
This will mean more visitors toto our area and the time to think about getting your tickets for
the day of your choice is soon. The ticket prices are $10.00 General Admission, $8.00 for
seniors and children 6-12. Children 5 years and under are free. Tickets will be available May 15, 2008.
We’re very proud to again have Hall of Fame Announcer Kedo Olsen (a GREAT crowed
pleaser), the La Pine Rodeo Riders Drill Team and cowboys and cowgirls from all the
Western States, Canada and other areas of the nation. Fred Masterson and Tygh Ridge
are our rodeo contractors.
Please call
541-536-7500 for additional information on
any of the above events.
We look forward to seeing all of you! Come join us at “The Greatest Little Rodeo in
Oregon.”
LRA Announces the 2008 La Pine Rodeo Queen:
Kristen Russell

La Pine Rodeo Association is proud to announce the crowning of their 2008 La Pine Rodeo Queen: Kristen Russell. Kristen is a Junior at La Pine High School where she has competed with the Oregon High School Equestrian Team over the past three years. Kristen is involved in 4H, Cascade Cattle Club & Rim Rock Riders. When asked, “Why do you want to be Rodeo Queen?” Kristen answers, "I want to be the La Pine Rodeo Queen because I love riding horses, working with people, being outside and having new experiences. Thanks to my years in 4H, I do not have trouble speaking in public. My horsemanship skills have improved greatly through my involvement on the La Pine High School OHSET team and in 4H. I have been involved in the La Pine Community by participating in the 4th of July Parade, Frontier Days events, Christmas Baskets and various other fundraisers."
Kristen was chosen from an amazing group of gals that tried out on March 15th at Ghost Rock Ranch off Beal Road. Each contestant was asked by the panel of four judges to demonstrate horsemanship skills by repeating a simple pattern on horseback carrying the LRA club flag & a Grand Entry Run-In. After a one-on-one interview, impromptu questions & a speech on "The Role of a Rodeo Queen", Kristen was their choice. Kristen will represent the La Pine Rodeo Association & the Community of La Pine this summer at many local Rodeos and Parades.
Our Trusty Tractor Has Been Painted!
A big THANK YOU goes out to the guys at Hooker Creek for the patriotic paint job they did on the rodeo tractor! Logan Oestman, Mike Harris and Shaun Glabb went above and beyond on this tractor. Thanks to La Pine Rodeo Association Board Members Tony DeBone for the idea and a huge thanks to Rod Wells for coordinating the project. be sure to check it out at this years Frontier Days Parade!
History of The La Pine Rodeo Association
The La Pine Rodeo has been in existence for over 30 years as a Jackpot Rodeo normally happening over the 4th of July. However, in 2001 a group of volunteers began planning a bigger event by getting professional sanctioning bodies to accept La Pine in their calendar for the year. For the last 5 years La Pine has had professional sanctioned rodeos. Each year the rodeo has grown in attendance, prize money, the number of contestants and popularity in Oregon. We are proud to say that La Pine has truly become, "The Greatest Little Rodeo in Oregon"!
